Akebono is a well-known maker of ceramic composite brake pads for Japanese and European cars. These pads are very low dust, have a progressive feel, and won't burn or chalk during extreme use. They are a great pad if you ever run your TDI on the track. Compared to a premium organic pad such as Pagid, these pads have less initial 'bite,' but respond more progressively to pedal pressure. They may squeal a very small amount when cold, but only on initial braking. They should also be a very long-life pad. These pads include sensors: you can remove them if your car doesn't have that feature.
