New steel bottomed oil pan for ALH and BEW engine cars, including all New Beetle TDI, Golf TDI and Jetta TDI between 1999.5 and 2005. Includes a new oil pan gasket.

Unlike the aluminum pan that is prone to cracking when impacted, the stronger steel bottomed pan will bend or dent, maintaining oil and oil pressure. A cracked oil pan will render the vehicle incapacitated.

This pan is considered a retrofit upgrade as it may interfere with and require moving the power steering line or shaving of the A/C compressor and other items. Fitment is not guaranteed.

What our customers say...

VERY SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT FOR FITMENT IN ALH ENGINE. This oil pan was easily retrofitted to my ALH '01. The adjustment lied in shaving off enough of the air compressor bolt casing in order to fit the oil pan with its wider body and slight jut which causes interference. I would say only 1.5mm was required to shave off of air compressor. NOTE: DO NOT STRIP THE OIL PAN BOLTS. THE JOB GETS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT. I recommend 1/4 in. drive 10 mm socket with universal 1/4 in. joint and a 1/4 in. drive 3+in. extension on a ratchet for the oil pan bolts located near the flywheel. Also, 5mm ball hex sockets will prove very useful. Remember that the engine can be cranked such that the flywheel indentations can be adjusted to line up with the bolt heads. Godspeed.

I don't know about fitment in the oem application, but it says in the description things will need to be modified for a/c to fit. This is a nice pan for engine swaps using the ALH motor. This pan is slightly more shallow than the oem one allowing for better crossmember clearance. With the steel pan I can also have a new drain welded on in a more convenient place. Went on well and even used the gasket. With some gasket sealant.

This pan fit my 2004 VW JETTA TDI BEW with no modifications. It went right in. Some of the reviews mention needing to dremel the AC compressor out of the way, or otherwise making adjustments to make it fit. On my car, it went right in.
